Looking for some tasty places to eat on Lake Atitlan? We’ve put together our shortlist of some delicious spots across some of our favorite towns so you can explore and grab a mouthwatering bite afterward.
Deli Jazmín
Hidden in the heart of Panajachel, Deli Jazmín is absolutely the most perfect spot to get brunch. Eat outdoors in their stunning open-air garden, surrounded by an array of gorgeous Guatemalan flowers and vines. Their menu has a wide selection of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options, so there’s something for every palette. Not to mention, their staff is incredibly friendly and helpful!
Our top pick: Order the BLT. It’s served on amazing crusty bread with a side of seasoned potatoes. You can play around with the flavor too with their mind-blowing selection of complementary sauces.
Ente Restaurant
Who says you can’t get amazing pizza in Guatemala? Ente Restaurant has easily blown us all away with their creative selection of wood-fired pizza. You can find them on the road in between Solola and Panajachel in a secluded hillside spot with beautiful panoramic lake views. Not only do they have a delicious food menu, but they also serve up some yummy cocktails too!
Our top pick: La Divorciada. This pizza is made up of half tomato sauce with Argentinian chorizo and bacon, and the other half is tomatillo sauce (green tomato) with fresh oregano, black olives, and tomato. We guarantee you’ll love it.
Sababa San Pedro
This hidden gem in San Pedro is definitely one of the most Instagrammable cafes on the lake. Their little spot is made up of an indoor/outdoor seating area surrounded by vines and hanging plants. Grab a coffee on one of their swings or head up to their upper deck and overlook the misty San Pedro bay. They serve up a huge selection of amazing brunch (and lunch) meals – and with so many delicious items, you can’t really go wrong.
Our top pick: If you want something savory, we highly recommend their Shakshuka. However, if you’re looking for something sweeter, we love the fried Nutella crepes!
El Artesano
This is hands down, the most amazing culinary experience on the lake! Enjoy a wonderful afternoon tasting cheeses, meats, and wines, specially curated by the owner Dietrich. Whatever you order, he’ll walk you through your selection explaining the taste and best pairings based on your choices. Most people come here for the full wine & cheese experience, so we recommend getting the cheese platter (20-23 types of cheeses) and/or the cured meats plate (15-20 different meats). They also carry a huge selection of local and international wines to perfectly complement your meal.
Streetfood vendors
No foodie tour would be complete without trying some of the local street food. Pretty much anywhere you go on the lake will have a variety of options that are all finger-licking good. Some of our top picks for street food eats are: Shucos (Guatemala’s take on a hot dog), Churrasco (a thin seared steak meal), Gringas (taco meets quesadilla), and of course, all of the fried chicken.
