Guatemala’s borders are currently open to international travelers with just a few basic requirements for entry.
- You must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken and dated within 72 hours prior to check-in at the airport.
- Alternatively, you must provide proof of vaccination. If you have received your COVID-19 vaccines, you must provide evidence of this with the second dose being administered at least 2 weeks before your arrival in Guatemala.
During your stay in Guatemala, there are a few things you should be aware of:
- Mask Mandate: Guatemalan law requires you to wear a mask at all times in public spaces. If you refuse to wear a mask, you risk being fined $1000+.
The entire country has been exercising precautions against the virus. In larger towns and cities expect to have your temperature taken and be required to disinfect your hands and shoes before entering most businesses, restaurants, and markets. Additionally, most transportation options and tour companies are operating at a much lower capacity throughout this time.
Despite these few restrictions and requirements, there is still plenty open and many businesses are fully operating again, just at a lower capacity.
So what are you waiting for? Come on down and explore the land of eternal spring!
