Mundo de Abejas Mayas

Mundo de Abejas Mayas is a fantastic organization dedicated to the conservation of bees on Lake Atitlán.

They offer a free tour where they explain the different species of bees around Lake Atitlan and how they are vital to the ecosystem. You also get to sample different types of honey and then are able to purchase a variety products that they make from the honey from different species. This includes not just honey to eat but also for medicinal purposes and even beauty care. The tours are offered in both Spanish or English and the staff were incredibly friendly.

Bonus: They have beautiful mural art throughout the property as well.

Our favorite part?

We loved learning about their sustainability goals and seeing all the different types of bees and discovering what products we can make out of the honey. It was a very interesting and interactive learning experience!
