If you want to get out and properly explore the lake, ATI Adventures is one of the best ways to do it. This locally owned company runs guided outdoor experiences across the Lake Atitlán region – with knowledgeable local guides, quality gear, and a genuine commitment to conservation and the communities they operate in.

On the hiking side, you can tackle the Atitlán or Tolimán volcano as a day hike or overnight camping trip, explore a cloud forest and hidden waterfall, hike through oak forests on Cerro Papá, or do a full traverse above Panajachel. On the water, their kayak tours range from a half-day paddle out of Panajachel to a full lake crossing. For the more adventurous, they also run rock climbing sessions in Santa Cruz.

Tours run at various difficulty levels, so it doesn't matter whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a solid half-day out. Solo travellers can join scheduled group adventures through their calendar, which also means better rates. Custom trips are available too if you have something specific in mind.
